Australia Post said it expected up to half a million parcels would be delivered each weekend from now until the end of the year.
Sheffield said more than 4000 new roles are being filled to help process and deliver parcels across the country.
There are 3500 roles in delivery up for grabs, including 350 in regional areas.
Around 1000 of those roles will be for drivers and 2100 staff will be required to help sort parcels.
There will also be new customer support roles based in Victoria and Queensland.
